New House

Hilton of Cadboll, Ross-shire

planning consent obtained - January 2014

This new building will replace an existing run-down cottage on the sea-front in Hilton of Cadboll. Historically, buildings in this exposed coastal village were typified by floorplans with shallow front-to-back dimensions, and low roofs. Subsequent modernisation has resulted in a proliferation of flat-roofed dormers, as houseowners try to maximise the sea-views.

This design boldly expresses the dormer as a contemporary addition to the traditional form below.

Living spaces are all on the upper level to take advantage of expansive sea-views; with bedrooms fitting snugly 'below decks'.
